ESCAPE THE NIGHT

It was all a dream. We used to read Rue Morgue magazine and fantasize about the day we would grow up to make the same kind of movies that enthralled us in our youth. That dream was the driving force behind Escape the Night.

We set out to develop a proof of concept trailer to generate interest in the project. Spike Jonze’s visionary music video for Wax by California depicting a businessman engulfed in flames running to catch a bus was our jumping off point. As we continued developing, our friends and associates graciously asked if they could volunteer their time and services to be a part of the project. Thanks to all of their involvement, what started out as a one minute trailer turned into a five minute short film full of earth rattling explosions, chainsaw massacres and high octane death jumps. Groovy.

Shot over three nights in a junkyard in northern Ontario, a group of extremely hard working and incredibly talented volunteers brought their A-game to make movie magic. Working through rain, mud, fire and blood the crew held nothing back and left it all on the field. Kassie Boone, the star of Escape the Night, was no exception. On the last night of filming, despite spitting rain and reports of a severe storm on it’s way, Kassie Boone rode her bike full speed and hit the ramp sailing 75 feet in the air. Every crew member turned their gaze skywards and watched Kassie fly as if she was born with wings. In that brief moment all of us knew it had all been worth it. We will forever be in debt to everyone who helped Escape the Night become a reality. They are the ones who allow us to live our dream, every single day.

Enough talk. Let’s get to the blood and guts.
